About

Two and a half decades in the engine room of IT

For more than two decades I have been fully immersed in the dynamic world of IT — design, implementation and administration across a multitude of projects.

Along the way I have become a connoisseur of operating environments, moving comfortably through Linux, Solaris, AIX and the ever-present Microsoft systems. My expertise goes well beyond the surface — it reaches into the core of each system, and it is in Linux that my stardom shines brightest: deep in the intricacies of the operating system, resolving issues efficiently and defying limitations.

Databases are trusted allies in that work — Redis, Oracle, Informix, PostgreSQL and MySQL — orchestrating seamless integrations and extracting the insights that fuel informed decision-making. In code, I interweave C, Java and PL/SQL, and through the Spring Boot framework I build microservices that deliver streamlined, modern functionality.

I have embraced the industry's great shift from XML to JSON — a transformation that revolutionised system integration — and I am at home in both paradigms. But my journey is not merely one of technical mastery: I bridge the gaps between systems and people, unravelling complex requirements into a common language that resonates with stakeholders, and adapting to the perpetual winds of change.

“In the ever-shifting tides of technology, I stand as a steadfast beacon — armed with knowledge, experience, and an unyielding dedication to excellence.”

Life & faith on a Northern Cape farm

At the forefront of my life is my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ — it is through this lens that I view and participate in the world around me.

Faith & the CMA

As a devout believer I serve as Northern Cape regional president of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). Combining my love for motorcycles with my commitment to my faith is a true blessing — riding with others who share the same values, making a positive impact on people's lives.

Motorcycles

Two wheels, long Karoo roads and good company. The bike is more than a hobby — it is fellowship, ministry and the best way I know to see God's country.

Farm life & animals

Living on a picturesque farm keeps me connected to the rhythms of the earth. Caring for the land and the animals that call it home is a responsibility I cherish — their companionship is a daily reminder of the beauty of God's creation.

Family & camping

Above all, my most profound moments are shared with my incredible wife and children — family is the cornerstone of my life. Camping adventures together are treasured moments that strengthen our bonds amidst the wonders of creation.

Electronics tinkering

One of my greatest joys: exploring the inner workings of devices, experimenting with circuits and pushing the boundaries of what a workbench full of parts can do.

Personal IT projects

In the pockets of time I carve out, I build mobile apps, create websites and explore emerging technologies in a sandbox — applying the gifts I've been given in creative, innovative ways.

Come ride along

Join me on this incredible journey, where faith intertwines with technology, nature, family and personal growth — inspired by the love of God and the infinite possibilities that lie before us.
